We've all had that moment. You are watching a television show or a movie, or reading a book, and the characters come into a situation involving food. If the creators did it right, you will find yourself thinking, "Wow! I want to eat there!" Here is a list of some examples, and their Mr. Delivery equivalents!
1. The Krusty Krab- Spongebob Squarepants
Any time I watch Spongebob with people, if a Krabby Patty is shown someone in the room will say, "You know, I've always wanted to have a Krabby Patty," to which everyone will agree. Seems kind of absurd, given that we are referring to a fictional food. I have always imagined it to be a normal burger, but instead of beef the patty is a crab cake. Though, I imagine if that is what the creators were going for, then Mr. Krabs is one sick dude. If you happen to live in Austin, Draft Pick might be your pick here, given that it is a typical burger joint that ALSO sells pizza!
2. The Three Broomsticks- Harry Potter
Last summer, when I was studying abroad in London, I had the awesome opportunity to go to the Warner Brothers Harry Potter studio, and yes, I got to drink butter beer. It did not taste quite as magical as I had imagined it would, but that does not stop me and all of the Harry Potter fans I know from wishing they could hang out at The Three Broomsticks. If you live in the Morgantown area, you might be able to find the same magic at Tutto Gelato. But if the entire town is snowed in, as Hogsmeade often is, then you can order Mr. Delivery to you, and enjoy whatever equivalent of butter beer you fancy in the comfort of your own home! |
3. Los Pollos Hermanos- Breaking Bad
I honestly cannot put a finger on what makes this fictional chain of fried chicken restaurants so popular, but its popularity has lead to rumors of the fiction being turned into reality. If the rumors are true, perhaps Mr. Delivery could pick up a store or two to deliver for. Until then, you can find your equivalent at La Polleria in Denver, where we can assure you there is not money laundering or sinister meth dealers lurking about. (P.S. If you have not watched Breaking Bad, please do!)
4. The Shore Shack- Rocket Power
If you are walking down a boardwalk and see a restaurant that has open pillars and arches instead of walls and doors, you are probably immediately going to feel welcome. With its no shoes no shirt no problem atmosphere, I cannot imagine anyone who wouldn't want to hang out at the Shore Shack. However, on those less than perfect beach days, delivery from your favorite boardwalk restaurant would be ideal. Though not on the water or a boardwalk, BurgerMeister in Berkeley is a pretty solid alternative to this totally bodacious fictional hangout.
5. 22 Bleecker- No Reservations
The final fictional restaurant on our list is my slightly obscure and extremely girly addition. However, if you get through the devastating first 10 minutes of this RomCom Drama (same idea as Up) and watch the entire movie, it is hard not to want to eat at this high-end award-winning restaurant. If you want to order dinner with your next date-night or girls-night movie, and eat the same quality of food as you're watching being made, then you may consider ordering from Gamlin Whisky House in St. Louis. Nothing like great food to accompany a great movie!
